Facebook Forums

How can I become a member of the NOMV Facebook peer support forums?

NOMV has three forums on Facebook providing peer support to all veterinary professionals.

Each forum is a private group of peers. Our membership verification process protects the privacy of current members and ensures the forums remain truly a space of “peers” as defined by the group parameters.

Who can see content from the NOMV Support Forums?

Content on NOMV Forums can only be seen by forum members. We encourage members to remember that true privacy is difficult to achieve on the internet. If you are concerned about content being seen by others, we encourage you to use our anonymous posting service – only our moderators will know who wrote the content. Moderators are held to strict confidentiality rules. They will review your content and then post it to the forum on your behalf.

How can I spread awareness about NOMV in my community? 

Race Around The World is NOMV’s signature fundraising event designed to reach people on a global scale and create a larger awareness for all that NOMV does in the veterinary industry.

Education

How do I request a NOMV volunteer to provide a presentation to my organization, university, or conference?

NOMV provides educational presentations to all types of audiences – big and small – about veterinary wellness. To request a presentation, please complete the Speaker Request Form and a NOMV representative will contact you to confirm your presentation.

You can also use the speaker request form as an individual if you would like access to free pre-recorded content.

Support Groups

What if I would like peer support off Facebook or if I’d like to join a support group facilitated by a mental health professional instead of a peer?

NOMV is pleased to partner with the Veterinary Mental Health Initiative which provides virtual peer support groups for veterinarians and veterinary technicians led by mental health providers. These groups are live and available to individuals via Zoom. Advance registration is required and additional details can be found on their website for all active groups.

How can I get more involved by volunteering with NOMV?

NOMV could not operate without the talented and incredible volunteers dedicated to advancing our mission through their service. If you would like to volunteer your time, you can complete an online application and a NOMV representative will contact you to get started.

How can I get access to NOMV’s Facebook Forum members if I am not qualified to be a member?

The primary focus of our support forums is peer-to-peer support. Only veterinary professionals and students are allowed within the support forums. However, we do allow some posts that are beneficial to our members. To inquire about making a research project, CE, or other resources available to NOMV members, go to the NOMV Resources page.

Cutest Pet Contest

How does my participation in the Cutest Pet Contest support NOMV?

All proceeds of the Cutest Pet Contest fundraiser go to benefit NOMV’s Grants Program. To enter, there is a $5 entry fee and votes cost $1 (minimum of 5 votes must be purchased).

How are NOMV supporters recognized?

We are thrilled to announce the first annual NOMV Annual Award Gala! 

The NOMV Gala is an award ceremony recognizing the contributions of our incredible team of supporters! Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination (including self-nominations) except for members of the Annual Award Review Committee. Nominations close December 23rd, 2021.
